Iodine is the essential building block of thyroid hormones (T3 has 3 iodine atoms, T4 has 4). Always supplement with selenium to prevent oxidative damage during iodine uptake.
Take 150-300mcg iodine (kelp or potassium iodide) daily WITH 200mcg selenium. Test before high-dosing.
MUST take selenium alongside. Excess iodine can worsen Hashimoto's. Test levels first.
