Aloe vera juice contains anti-inflammatory compounds including acemannan and bradykinase that reduce inflammation throughout the digestive tract. Studies show that drinking aloe vera juice significantly reduces heartburn frequency and severity comparable to omeprazole but without the side effects. It also promotes healing of the esophageal lining damaged by chronic acid exposure.
Drink 2-4 oz of inner-leaf aloe vera juice (decolorized, purified) 20 minutes before meals. Start with 1oz to test tolerance. Choose products specifically labeled for internal use — not topical aloe gel.
Use only inner-leaf, decolorized aloe juice — whole-leaf contains aloin (a harsh laxative). May lower blood sugar. Avoid during pregnancy. Discontinue if diarrhea occurs.
