AAP recommends 400 IU D3 daily for all breastfed infants. Deficiency linked to increased infections, asthma, and poor bone development. Most children are insufficient.
Infants: 400 IU drops daily. Ages 1-8: 600-1000 IU daily. Ages 9+: 1000-2000 IU daily. Test levels annually.
Don't exceed 4000 IU/day for children without testing. Test 25-OH vitamin D levels.
